“The Lord takes pleasure in those who hope in his steadfast love.” – Psalm 147:11
“In hope we were saved.” – Romans 8:24

The Bible is a book of hope from front to back. At Hope Reformed Church we are striving to embrace this hope; the hope that our loving God is reaching out to save the world. As you page through this website you’ll discover that we are seeking to embrace hope by doing justice, loving kindness, and walking humbly with God. In other words, we are seeking to live the life today that God lived when he walked the earth in Jesus of Nazareth, our Lord and Savior. It might not make us rich or famous or be a very glamorous way of life, but we believe God is our only hope to make the world a better place. We don’t imagine to have all of the answers, but we do know where we are going. We are walking in the Spirit on the road of Jesus Christ into God’s kingdom of life and peace. We invite you to join us on this Pilgrimage of Hope!

Thank you

A special thank you to the Capella Choir from Calvin College for sharing their gifts of music with us! I am amazed at the power and blessing that music brings to a gathering of people. I was also amazed at how moving the human voice can be. It is by far the best instrument to hear in worship. One of the great saints of the past, Augustine of Hippo, said that"those who sing pray twice." I agree. Take some time to sing this week or find a voice that lifts your spirit. See you Sunday!

Living Hope

Wednesday, March 26, 2008
What does that mean? Is there such a thing as a dead hope? Easter season is always a time to be reminded of the hope we find in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The resurrection doesn't promise that life will always be rosy, but it does promise hope. Is it just an "opiate for the masses" as Karl Marx suggested? Is is something to pacify oppressed people? Or, is it something that ought to spur us on to action? Peter wrote to a group of Christians who were facing opposition that was anything but rosy. His first letter provides some answers to our questions. Join us on Sunday as we listen to what makes Christian hope living and how we are called to live in that hope.
